I graduated from Oberlin College in 1983 with a BA in Comparative Religious Philosophy. After graduation I lived in San Francisco for 3 years, during this time I studied Chakra Energy Balancing.
In 1985 I worked as a chef and studied at Heartwood Healing Arts Institute, in Northern California. I studied Massage Therapy, Asian Perspectives on Food as Medicine , Nutritional Counseling, Polarity Therapy, Jin Shin Do Acupressure, and Yoga. While at Heartwood I meet several women from Lopez Island, came to visit, and in October of 1986 I moved to Lopez Island.
Once in Washington State I continued to study massage therapy and received my WA State Massage License in 1988. In 1989, Aimee Nassoiy and I opened Lopez Massageworks.
I continued my education in bodywork with studies in: Paul St. John Neuromuscular Trigger Point Therapy, Structural Integration, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Zero Balancing, Qi Gong, and Reiki. I taught yoga classes on Lopez from 1986-2002.
In 2009 I graduated from Middle Way Acupuncture Institute with a Diploma in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, adding acupuncture, Chinese nutritional and herbal therapy, cupping, moxa, and tuning forks to my practice.
In August of 2010 I joined office space in affiliation with Healing Energy Arts of Lopez (HEAL). After 31 years, I find I am still in love with Lopez Island. Each day I continue to be dazzled by a moment of stunning beauty and elegance, and continuous random acts of kindness.
